A whole new world of underwater adventure
awaits you at the Bournemouth Oceanarium. From piranhas to pufferfish,
and crabs to turtles, the Oceanarium is home to some of the planet's most
amazing animals.
Crystal-clear waters and naturally-themed habitats allow close encounters
with a dazzling array of underwater life from elegant seahorses to sinister
tropical sharks. Journey below the surface of the world's greatest rivers;
the Amazon, Ganges and the Nile and meet weird and wonderful creatures
like the upside-down catfish and the giant pacu.
Other displays feature the ocean depths,
the Mediterranean, Hawaii and even a Caribbean seashore - home to curious
cow-nosed rays and vibrant parrotfish!
A giant 350,000 litre ocean tank recreates the fragile beauty of Australia's
Great Barrier Reef and the hundreds of colourful creatures that call it
home. The display is also patrolled by groups of tropical sharks, sting-rays,
eels and even a pair of friendly green turtles.
Visitors enjoy a bird's eye view of this reef from the safety of a wooden
boardwalk before coming face to face with the world's oldest and greatest
natural predators, the sharks, inside an amazing underwater tunnel.
